L'Usine Space at Le Loi
More than just a fashion boutique, café and art gallery, L’Usine is a contemporary Vietnamese experience in Ho Chi Minh City. Inspired by the timeless elegance and enterprising industry of the Indochina era, L’Usine’s founders have designed a space that not only showcases global fashion but also celebrates modern Vietnamese creativity. L'Usine also provides free Wi-Fi within their cafés. We visited both L'Usine outlets, but this post focuses on the one at Le Loi.
We were surprised to find the store crowded regardless of the time we visited. Most of the customers appeared to be expatriates, and they usually grabbed a cup of aromatic Vietnamese coffee before firing away on their laptops. The café features a universally-appealing minimalist contemporary setting.
If you're in Ho Chi Minh City, you might soon get bored of eating baguettes all day long. The typical street baguette costs 17,000 dong. At more than 8 times that price, L'Usine's baguettes are understandably a class above, featuring fresh premium ingredients. This giant portion is best shared between two.
My initial reaction was: where is the salmon?? Digging through the wispy, fluffy eggs, I eventually found a few strips hidden beneath, leaving me rather disappointed with the presentation. While the eggs were moist and milky, the bread was burnt at the edges and had a distinctively charred smell. I guess some would love the burnt taste, but I would have preferred something more neutral to complement the salmon.
This platter consists of poached eggs, strips of bacon, tomato and spinach. The bacon came in a really bright pink, but had a fragrant smokiness to it. I also loved the oozy poached eggs that melted lusciously in my mouth. This is probably one of the better poached eggs I found in Ho Chi Minh City.

Pulled Pork Baguette with BBQ sauce & coleslaw - 140,000 VND
For a baguette, the bread was really crispy and yet moist. The pulled pork had minimal marbling yet the texture remained smooth and tantalising. The coleslaw tasted really different from those found back home; it was sour, sticky and mushy.
Smoked Salmon on Whole Wheat Bread - 170,000 VND
Big Brekki - 160,000 VND
