6 delightful Bistros to visit in Singapore

What do you get when you combine great food with outstanding ambience? A high-quality bistro, duh! I've long endured complaints from friends about how many eateries serve up mediocre food at exorbitant prices. After a painstaking search spanning several months, I've handpicked a few outstanding bistros to add to your weekend to-do list!
Here are 6 lovely Bistros to visit in Singapore (satisfaction guaranteed).

1. Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro
This beautiful establishment reminds me of Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven. It's an utterly gorgeous place—high ceilings, tranquil lighting and a beautiful marina right at the doorstep of the bistro. Try the QSFB's signature chilli crab linguine, or sip your romantic evening away with a glass of Sex at Quayside.

2. &SONS Bacaro

This bistro has a life of its own — the bedazzling ambience seems to transport you to medieval times, complete with candlesticks and dark wooden chairs. The quality of food definitely does not disappoint. From truffle pesto to gorgonzola and ravioli, you would think you're in a quaint Italian village with their delectable range of homely and heartwarming Italian-based cuisine.

3. Kakis Bistro & Bar

If I could, I would head to this place every weekend. Located at the eastern tip of Singapore, Kakis Bistro & Bar is extremely near Changi Village. The Prawn Alioli with Homegrown Lemongrass and Coriander is one of the best appetisers here, and the Chicken Quesadilla with Homemade Salsa is thick, satisfying and overflowing with melted mozzarella. If you are going for a fuller bite, the Aglio Olio with Homegrown Kaffir Leaf definitely packs enough punch to titillate your tastebuds.

4. The Rustic Bistro

Stepping into The Rustic Bistro, you are awed by the decoration and ambience of the place. Wires and lightbulbs hang loosely overhead, granting an industrial chic atmosphere. Did you know they actually cook their eggs to perfection at exactly 63°C? What's more exciting are the occasional spontaneous offerings of appetisers on the house. The creativity and innovation of the chefs are so dynamic, and they indeed express how they feel through their culinary delights. This place is highly recommended for large gatherings in particular. The wallet-friendly food items will definitely not disappoint. Click here for a food review of The Rustic Bistro.

5. MUCHACHOS

This place whips up arguably the best burritos in town. Founder Jonathan Yang created this burrito bar out of desperation at the dearth of tasty burritos in Singapore. I tried the Carne Asada (Beef) Quesadilla and Carnitas (Pork) Burrito, and thought both were extremely tantalising. The ingredients are freshly prepared, so you can look forward to quality Mexican food. Here's a tip: Avoid dropping by from 8-10pm on Fridays if you don't want to queue.

6. SYNC Korean Fusion Bistro

My recent visit to SYNC Korean Fusion Bistro took me by surprise. This eatery offers true-blue Korean food, yet with exotic tastes and twists such as the Matcha Lava Cake. This is also where people meet technology, as there is a corner with Samsung Galaxy Tabs for patrons to fiddle with. Take the stairs down and you will find yourself in a Samsung retail store. This place is highly recommended for families who love to share and enjoy their food communally (like many Koreans). The Topokki, Smoked Duck Ramyun and fries topped with kimchi and cheese are definitely worth a try.
