Bringing Smiles to Needy Families in Toa Payoh

These days, many companies are driven by financial profits & commercial interests. This is probably inevitable because of the various gruelling shareholders' interests. I always find it a joy whenever any firm makes an effort to advocate social initiatives.

I was pleased to hear that OpenRice Singapore gave 250kg of rice to 50 needy households across Toa Payoh on 11 January! The event was titled "Rice and Shine"... what a funny play of words, isn't it?!

Due to inflation, rice is placing an increasing financial burden on the less privileged. As Kenett Wong (Country Manager of OpenRice SG) said, "While Singaporeans use OpenRice to search for good food every day, it is also very important to consider the needs of the underprivileged population."
They also constructed an OpenRice mural using expired rice... thumbs up for their creativity! :)

Kudos to these volunteers who selflessly gave of their time and effort to bring some cheer to the needy in Toa Payoh!
