Bakerzin review: The place to celebrate love
If there's a local brand to be proud of, it would be Bakerzin. This 18-year old Patisserie has come a long way indeed, transforming from a single artisan cafe to seven outlets and a Bakerzin Artisan Bread at myVillage. It has recently opened their second dining concept, Nom La La by Bakerzin at SAFRA Punggol. I haven't had a chance to visit it yet— and I was quite surprised that I haven't reviewed Bakerzin seeing how my mother would always insist on going there for special occasions. Herb Cream Cheese Salad — S$10.00
Bakerzin's herb cream cheese salad |
Head off to a great start with the Herb cream cheese salad. There are four choices of salad to choose from— and our family made a unanimous decision on this. It was a delightful plate of arugula, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, walnuts, golden raisins and herb cream cheese. The salad is tossed in a citrusy yuzu dressing.

Grilled Barramundi — S$17.90
My dad ordered his favourite fish— barramundi. Served with yellow and green zucchinis, green beans, cherry tomatoes and creamy sauce, the barramundi soaked in the flavours and was really fresh. I guess the only disadvantage to the dish is that I find it quite a small portion, though it may be perfect for those with small appetites (like my dad).
Carbonara — S$15.90
Spaghetti, bacon bits, cream, white wine, egg yolk and black pepper |
Bakerzin's Carbonara— well-balanced and delightful! |
Norwegian Salmon Baked Rice — S$15.00++/set
Norwegian Salmon Baked Rice |
There is a limited selection of set meals— only four items to choose from. You can also select the option of having a soup of the day/mesclun salad or an ice-ream dessert to accompany your mains. Anyway, the waiter forgot to serve the soup of the day and I also forgot about it too. *sighs* I didn't fancy the norwegian salmon baked rice as it was too oily, probably because of the omega-3 fats from the fatty fish.
Chicken Rendang with Fragrant Pilaf Rice and Papadam— S$15.00/set
The chicken rendang is quite addictive, full of fragrant flavours because of the spices and coconut milk. There is also an additional touches in the rice— such as adding peppers, spices and tomatoes. Nyona cuisines are always quite mind-blowing!
Vanilla Bourbon — S$6.90
Complimentary refills with TWG Tea |
Mango Mousse — S$8.50
Bakerzin's light sponge cake with mango mousse. |
I don't fancy sponge cakes, but this is quite refreshing. The sponge cake is filled with mango mousse at its corners, mango jelly, and topped with a macaron. It is also served with fresh seasonal berries, mango and raspberry sauces. I think it looks like a fruity rhapsody of sweetness.
