If you love loud music, you'll love BQ BAR

Raise your voices, I mean glasses, to Dharma's Kebabs at BQ Bar. The website of this place proclaims that they're an 'unpretentious and lively waterfront bar' at Clarke Quay. This got me questioning— what is 'unpretentious'? Does it refer to unfriendly, cold staff or music so loud that you can hardly hold any conversation with your partner? So we got a Chicken Tikka and Fish Tikka. As you can tell from the photos, it is a challenge to differentiate the two.

The chicken tikka features marinated chunks of chicken, skewered and grilled in tandoor oven. It is also served with baked butter naan and salad. The fish tikka is exactly the same as the chicken ones. The mint yoghurt and curry was excellent, and I wished they gave a larger portion of that.



Unfortunately, the salad seems to be drowning in sauce—the greens were definitely not crisp and fresh. The chicken tikka tasted really delicious, but the fish was a disappointment. In fact, the fish was pretty cold inside and I don't know if it came right from the refrigerator and they did not microwave it properly.

The naan was not too oily and indeed, it was quite fresh and crisp. I would say that overall, I liked the chicken tikka more but I really dislike the ambience. The service crew was rowdy and their face was as dark as the night sky.
