Melbourne Food Series: White Mojo Speciality Coffee & Roaster

With the countless openings of cafes, it's difficult to remember each and every one of them. In fact, there are some cafes which I've forgotten about because the food might not be that memorable... White Mojo, however, remains etched in my memory. This cafe has been the talk of the town ever since it opened in Melbourne— and I dragged my partner to try this with me. The venue is located right at the heart of the Melbourne city and its ambience is very modern and sleek. Something which the people of Melbourne consider as "very Melbournian".  🙂

White Mojo Cauliflower Panna Cotta — S$21.59 (AUD$21.00)

 

This was a dish served back in July 2016 — all heads turn when the smoke billows out as the service staff lifts the glass case off the plate, revealing a gorgeous mess within.

Well, it looks like the dish was carefully curated by a chef-in-practice. Lightly seared scallops gathered around the fire of rich and creamy cauliflower. I was surprised that this dish was actually a cold dish!

Eggs Benedict & Toast

If you want perfectly gooey 63°C eggs, this is it. It was fun watching my friend stab the egg and enjoying the river of egg yolk trickle down the toast— that I actually forgot to take a photo of that! Did you know that you can even find out who supplies their free-range eggs at White Mojo?

White Mojo Croissant Burger (AUD$22)

If you ask me, I'd go for the White Mojo Croissant Burger (AUD$22) instead of the fanciful theatrical production of the panna cotta. The sheer pleasure derived from a mouthful of croissant stuffed with deep-fried golden soft shell crab, a sunny side-up and chipotle mayonnaise is purely gastronomic. Wondrously flaky, the croissant is impressively light and not at all oily. I wished that they gave more soft shell crab though!
