Orchard's Secret Hideout: Grand Jeté Cafe & Bar

Lately, I've been having severe dizzy issues from my vestibular disorders. This made me avoid crowds as much as possible. Meeting friends has definitely not been an easy task. One day, msginginly asked me out for brunch and I suggested Ngee Ann City as I'm already out to visit my specialist at Mount Elizabeth hospital. I'm really thankful that she was willing to accommodate me and agreed to visit a secluded restaurant I found on Google. It was our first time visiting Grand Jeté Cafe & Bar, a japanese-style cafe which serves Japanese-western food. Surprisingly, the quaint cafe has been around for more than 5 years!

Not many people during lunchtime

When it was time to order, we wanted their Kakiage tencha and inaniwa udon but sadly, both were out of stock. The friendly wait staff reasoned that they ran out of kakiage tempura.

They also serve set lunches which includes a drink. However, we decided to go for a la carte dishes as we would be visiting another coffee place later. I ordered mentaiko pasta (S$14.50) while msginginly ordered a plate of curry rice (S$13).

Creamy Mentaiko - S$14.50

Curry Rice - S$13

Both dishes were simple and easy-to-eat. They remind me of homecooked Japanese food, where it is not overly rich in flavours but not plain as well. The tasty food, coupled with friendly service, makes me want to visit again. I'd recommend this restaurant if you want a quiet place to rest and catch-up with friends.
