Colours of the Wind

The new year spells a time for change. Forget about getting comfortable in your old shoes, it is time to leap over walls, break through barricades & vault the highest fences.  I love how fashion can be used as an expressive medium of our thoughts and feelings. For serious expressionists with a gamut of emotions, it sometimes translates into abstract art. I am no fashionista, but I always want my dressing to tell a glorious story.

In line with this theme, I would like to remind my readers of Pocahontas' theme song. With the issues of global warming, increasing racial discrimination & widening income gap, we mustn't forget that we're all connected with one another.

There may be many parts of the earth, but we are all One body. The bee cannot say to the flower, "I don't need you!" And the flower cannot say to the soil, "I don't need you!" In fact, the parts of the earth that seem to be weaker are indispensable. There should be no division on earth, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.

I love how this dress billows behind me with every step.

"You think you own whatever land you land on,
the earth is just a dead thing you can claim.
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger,
you'll learn things you never knew, you never knew."
– Colours of the Wind, Pocahontas.
I sincerely hope that in the year of 2014, each & every one of us can paint with all the colours of the wind.

You're loved .
