BERGS Gourmet Burgers

What can you do with a patty, some lettuce and a dollop of sauce? Place them between two buns and you're good to go. That sounds convenient, but it definitely won't taste good. BERGS does not compromise on quality for convenience — their unique Gourmet Burger restaurant makes your burger experience a completely unforgettable one. Founded by two Australians living in Singapore, its burgers are a fusion of East and West, and each burger comes in two sizes (BERGS size or small). There is an ongoing promotion where you can get 15% off your BERGS burger. Read on to find out how.
We could have enjoyed a quiet evening over books and burgers - if not for the loud heavy metal music.
Turning up on a weekend evening, it was no surprise that the outlet at Far East Square was almost empty. BERGS depends largely on the weekday lunch hour crowd to rack up sales. The restaurant layout reminded me of an old school canteen — tables and chairs made of wooden planks with holes in between. Sadly, the comfortable ambience was disturbed by the loud heavy metal music blasting through the speakers.

BERGS Ambience has no frills.

MARRAKECH (Small: S$13.50, BERGS: S$16.00)

The Marrakech is made up of a Spiced Lamb Patty, Mint Yoghurt, Beetroot, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onions & Aioli. It is probably inspired and influenced by Moroccan cuisine, though BERGS does not share much about the influences behind each burger on their menu.

Marrakech Burger
I loved the amalgamation of flavours and textures bursting forth in my mouth — the patty was slightly tough and chewy, but the burger buns were puffy and soft. Each bite was moreish, and I really loved how the skilled wrapping of the burger was able to contain the juices and sauces!

GOOD FALLA (Small: S$11.50, BERGS: S$14.00)

Falafel in a burger? This probably is a burger beyond your wildest dreams — it contains Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onions, Aioli & Lemon Yoghurt. Such a mixture produced a taste like never before — thick, fragrant, and a little mushy. Appearance-wise, the burger seemed flattened by someone's fist.

While the Falafel burger tasted great, its mushy texture made us sick of it after a while. We ordered the BERG size for this and I'd highly recommend that you share it between two people. Unless you are a certified American-eater, you probably can't finish the giant BERGS sized burger!

  1. I always try to watch what I say about someone's favorite band because people are as passionate about their music as they are in politics or religion.
