8 DAYS Eat Party with KUVO Singapore
Foodies in Singapore have increasingly tuned in to the 8 DAYS Eat mobile app since its launch in 2013. Two years on, the app is now a gastronomic haven for food enthusiasts and a daily guide to hip and happening foodie hotspots. I had the opportunity to join in the latest 8 DAYS Eat party and meet celebrity bloggers such as Maureen (misstamchiak) and Yina Goh. Shoutout to @elphinyeo for being my +1 and appointed photographer for the day!
The event kicked off with bloggers whipping up various concoctions of alcohol. Having previously tried my hand at making a mojito, I could feel a tingling sense of nervousness and anticipation as the bloggers attempted to create the perfect drink for their fans.
Their expressions tell me one thing: making the perfect alcoholic drink is really some serious business!
Coffee Hot Wings are supposedly KUVO's specialty, but the flavours and acidity levels were a miss. These wings somehow reminded me of gu lu rou (Cantonese Style Sweet and Sour pork). I was expecting the coffee essence to come out stronger. This would probably satisfy chilli-lovers though.
If there's only one item on the menu you can order, go for this! Moist, tender and richly flavourful, the meat melted readily on my tongue. It was a really blissful sensation and I wished I could go for seconds and thirds of it!
Collagen-cravers should make a beeline for this. The crispy Iberico pork belly does not have very distinct layers of lean and fatty meat, instead consisting of a uniform jelly-like texture. Although the drizzle of sauce complemented the pork well, the meat was not as crispy as expected.
One of my favourites of the evening! The cod was cooked to absolute perfection, thus retaining all those glorious juices and oils. I loved the freshness and mild sweetness exuding from the fish.
KUVO rounded off the evening with a wide variety of over-the-counter desserts. Unsurprisingly, the demand for these beauties was insatiable, and the counter had to be refilled quickly and repeatedly.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to try this — but don't you think it's pretty Instagram-worthy? If you've tried it, let me know how it tastes!

KUVO's Slipper Lobster Laksa Lemak
How can anyone not marvel at the sight of this giant crustacean rising dramatically from your laksa? This vibrantly-coloured dish is spicy, satisfying and hearty all at once.

An office party can be great fun for all employees. After working with one another every day for hours on end, a little time to kick back and socialize is always a welcome relief. You should definitely seek the input of others while organizing one.
