[NEW] Ribena's Pineapple and Passionfruit Drink

Ribena® is famous for its blackcurrent flavour, so much so that it has become unanimous with the brand itself. Hence, when the brand came out with its brand new Pineapple & Passionfruit Fruit Drink, I feared that it would be quite a challenge to break away from the usual blackcurrent flavour that we are familiar with. Anyway, the non-blackcurrant beverage by Ribena gives off a citrusy, tropical sensation that refreshes the tastebuds. It's a perfect summer drink for all of us in Singapore!

This bold step offers fans the best of both worlds - the refreshing flavour of the pineapple & passionfruit, and all the goodness of pure fruit extracts with a full daily dose of Vitamin C. Ribena claims that the beverage’s zesty tang comes from real fruit juice! I think my emotions went crazy as I cringe and break into a smile because it is a hybrid of sweet and sour.

I hope they put these bottles in vending machines around school... somehow it's quite invigorating and managed to perk me up!

Unfortunately, I would advise you NOT to put the drink in open air. It's best if you could cover it with a cap or drink right from the bottle. I was really stunned to see an insect in my drink after 5 minutes in the open... I believe they are fruit flies who are attracted to the fragrance of the pineapple. This just means that they really do use REAL fruit juice, isn't it?!

Ribena Pineapple & Passionfruit

Pineapple and Passionfruit Margaritas Mocktail Recipe*

Recipe serves four.Ingredients:

• 1 bottle of Ribena Pineapple & Passionfruit 
• 10 lime, small
• 1 cup orange juice
• 2 cups ginger ale
• sufficient ice cubes
• sufficient salt and lime juice – rims of the glasses
• 1 pineapple wedge for 4 cups – garnish

Directions:

1. Rub rims of four glasses with lime; dip rims in salt and set aside
2. Combine the following in a pitcher –

• Ribena Pineapple and Passionfruit 
• orange juice 
• ginger ale 
• lime juice, and 
• ice 

3. Pour the concoction into the glasses with its rims dipped in salt (Step 1)

4. Stir and it is ready to serve

The drink is pretty addictive — I really do hope that they are able to offer these flavours in food courts, restaurants and canteen! :)
