"We must book this hotel," I told my best friend firmly. "It's gonna be quite an experience!" In my mind, I was looking forward to the distant sounds of train crossing over the rocky tracks alongside the bustling city white noise. One of the best rated hotels in Nagoya, it's hard to beat the convenient location of the hotel and the stellar service is quite memorable. Directly connected to JR Nagoya Station (world's largest railway station by floor area), this hotel only has 7 floors. A must-visit is also the
on-site restaurant which I wrote about earlier.

View from our room at JR Nagoya Gate Tower |
Directly connected to JR Nagoya Station, the hotel is extremely accessible and you can literally walk down to the subway in your pyjamas just to have a late-night snack. Sad to say, the hotel was located too high up that I couldn't hear any white noise.
The Lobby
Posh and smelling like flowers, the lobby is nothing I would expect for a hotel that's located right above a busy railway station. The centrepiece of a matching carpet with two large paintings that attempts to imitate nature was simply breathtaking. Mmm... relaxing!

Night view - my camera couldn't quite capture the dazzling lights |
My best friend and I sat on a window sill and observed the way the Japanese live — we were pretty amused by how the cars were diagonally parked in a cramped lot. Checking out the different speeds of shinkansen versus the rail trains were pretty therapeutic too.
Room review in JR Gate Tower
The room was really spacious and we could comfortably move around even though both of us had two large luggages. There's also complimentary green tea and water. The television was connected to an iPad as a remote control and we could watch YouTube on TV. The iPad also controls the lights too.

The Toilet
I know some people who are particular about toilets — so please ignore this section if you think it's weird to share about toilets. This toilet is pretty hi-tech, with the controls located at the right hand side for your convenience. There's also a spacious bath tub (heck, I forgot to take a photo!) and all toiletries are provided. At my time of stay, the brand they used was Kalahari. I still preferred my MUJI one though :P

Tip: Get your toiletries from Nagoya Convenient Stores - it's cheaper compared to Kyoto / Osaka + MUJI! |

The Gatehouse @ Nagoya where guests can enjoy breakfast that uses local ingredients while enjoying the city view of Nagoya and the rooftop garden. There is also FREE WiFi throughout the property and a 24-hour fitness room equipped with treadmills and exercise bikes!
Service
The minute we stepped into the lobby, the bellboys offered to roll our luggage into the reception. Checking in was really quick and fuss-free, with the help of an attendant who printed our card key using a machine. Wow, talk about experiencing the advanced technology of Japan! The room was also extremely clean and I really liked the breath of fresh air in the hotel room. Some hotels have rooms that feels quite stuffy, but definitely not Nagoya JR Gate Tower.
