Review: Necessary Provisions Cafe at Eng Kong Terrace

Located in the heart of a quiet yet charming enclave, Necessary Provisions is a casual neighbourhood cafe for those who appreciate quality fine food. The cafe has been around for more than 5 years, and the menu does not change much since its inception. We were there on a lazy Saturday afternoon and the cafe was relatively empty.

Iced Chocolate — S$7.00

All chocolate-based drinks are prepared using Lachua, a 70% single origin dark chocolate from Guatemala, made locally in small batches by Fossa Chocolate. This is one of my favourites — the chocolate wasn't awfully sweet but it has a creamy, rich texture.

Pork Burger — S$14

The pork burger is made of Italian spiced pork patty topped with apple sauce, arugula and monterey jack. The portion was pretty small for $14, definitely didn't feel filling at all.

By MRT: Nearest station – Beauty World DT5 (take 173 and alight at the bus stop outside Bukit Timah Primary School)

By Car: From Bukit Timah Road, turn into Jalan Jurong Kecil, turn left into Toh Yi Drive and right into Lorong Kismis, then left again into Eng Kong Lane, turn right into the row of shop houses and go straight ahead towards no. 21.
